Look what someone tossed out one day! Good thing I have a keen eye for possibilities. It needed a bit of repair, but otherwise it was in pretty good condition and sturdy. It just needed a vanity makeover. Unbelievable that someone would just throw out this piece. The repairs were easy to do. The center mirror section prop just needed a new screw plus some new wood buttons for the mirror. That’s it.
I figured it would be ideal for my daughter’s college apartment, and could double as both a vanity for her theatrical make-up and a desk for her lap-top computer.

Love the theater masks! |

pretty cool eh? |
I love the combination of all the colors to brighten up her room, the drama of the black background and the fun hardware I found for it. The top is spattered with all of the colors on the black background, creating a unique finish with a subtle black band and the theater masks. I don’t often get to ‘go wild’ with color, a lot of my work is more subtle and classic, but every now and then a piece like this is just a joy to create, especially if it’s for someone you love. She just adores it, and now that’s she’s done with college and off living in another state, it’s the one piece of furniture that I have to store for her until she settles in one place. It’s currently looking for a ride out there- anyone?
My daughter would love this too! She is a theatre major! Many things made with a theatrical inspiration! Nice project.
Thanks Deneen! Good luck to your daughter, mine graduated 4 years ago and is now the wardrobe manager at the Arvada Theater near Denver, and loves it. Through her college years I know lots of theater people now, fun to follow their careers.
