Ta-da!!! I am sooooo excited about this table and it’s faux granite tabletop transformation.
I remember the first time I saw it as a curb shopping friend took it out of the back of his truck a few years ago to give to me. I took one look at it’s gouged and scratched up top and thought: “That’s gonna need a ton of work to even look decent.”
At first, I wasn’t very excited, until he swiveled and unfolded the top to reveal it’s true potential. It’s an antique mahogany card table that swivels and folds to be useful as a hall table or occasional table in between game nights. It even has a storage area under the top for cards! Too cool! I loved it! I immediately found a spot for it in my home.
The base is in decent shape and the playing surface only has a few minor scratches, so I’ve left those fairly untouched, just buffed them up a bit. I tend to like things a bit ‘distressed’ anyhoo. But, the top has been waiting for years under a tablecloth for a decorative facelift and a bit of magic to make it shine. I was finally inspired to do that this fall, and over the past couple of weeks, patched up the surface, prepped it and layered on the glazes needed to achieve the look I wanted.
I love how this turned out- great colors, beautiful character and a bit of sparkle in this faux granite top. I’ll never have to hide it under a tablecloth again! I just love it’s Faux Granite tabletop transformation.
It’s back in it’s place in the foyer, waiting for game night, a big family gathering (I can use the fancy folding chairs I painted with it), or dinner party.
Don’t ask me to part with this one, it’s a keeper.
