There’s just something about rural areas that just seem to speak to me. Maybe it’s something in the genes- I do come from a bit of a farming background, and still have many relatives on my dad’s side that farm. I love to garden, and even on a small suburban lot had so many different food crops mixed in with the flowers that a description of what I was growing made it sound like I had acres of land to work with.
On long drives out in the country, I love to dream about what it would be like to have a farm- a big rambling old house, barns and sheds, chickens, sheep for the sheepdogs to herd, and enough land to grow all the wonderful things I miss.
So I just had to paint this canvas- I may never have a real farm, but here in this painting I can.
