I barely had a chance to work in the studio on this yesterday, but did manage to at least take a photograph when I finished for the day for this landscape painting tutorial. So this is where I started out today’s work:
Today’s part day work in the studio is below:
The beginnings of a dirt road at the base of the hills, and the river continuing alongside. It disappears from view around the bend, but the trees indicate that it curves around again behind the first hill. The road follows it, taking the viewer towards the far mountains.
I added in few big boulders, more detail in the grasses and trees in the background. Deeper shadows give ore contrast and will be a backdrop to the highlights in grasses and twigs I will add later.
I added some details along the river and more depth to the grasses and shadows in the meadow.
A close-up of the river in the background. Not a tremendous amount of changes- unlike the first day’s development, but it is beginning to have depth and detail. The background areas are important for some detail, not a huge amount, most detail will be in the middle and foreground, and I will be working on that next week.
Stay tuned!
