Roses used as part of our wedding accessories

Newlyweds!

Whew! The last couple of months have been crazy busy!

Some of you loyal readers may know that my long time love Al and I decided to get married, so earlier this year, I was in wedding planning mode, designing all of the wedding accessories- busy creating invitations with hand-painted paper, and making seating charts, a guest book and a music folder for our soloist- my lovely daughter, using artist’s canvas, ribbons and a plain sketchbook.

I found the most beautiful silk roses to make into bouquets and decorate a basket for cards. I had a blast working on all the pretty little details that can make a wedding elegant and lovely without going too far over the top.

We planned a small but meaningful chapel ceremony and reception at a local restaurant for our small group of family and friends. I found the most lovely silk ensemble to wear at a local consignment shop and Al found a handsome tie to match my skirt, and we coordinated the best man’s tie and my maid of honor daughter’s outfit with the flowers for a more casual but still elegant feel. Mostly, we wanted the day to be special, but relaxed, and tried to eliminate unnecessary expenses and stress where-ever possible.

I don’t know if every couple enjoys their wedding as much as we did, but I sure hope so! It was a lovely day, even with the smattering of snow on a cold April Saturday. The reception was relaxed, the food delicious, the cake divine. Afterward, we continued the party at a friend’s house with just a few of our guests- so fun!

A few days after, we drove down to Charleston, SC for a wonderful vacation of exploring the city, historical sights, good food, nature hikes and birding and even delved into some family history!

We arrived back home with some great memories, wonderful experiences and a huge amount of photographs to sort through in the coming weeks. Paintings are forming in my mind for some fine art canvases based on the lovely scenery we saw. Slowly, life is returning to normal, and I’m looking for some great projects to work on. You know me- I’m not happy unless I have something wonderfully creative to work on, so I’m looking for new projects, new walls and new canvases to apply my inspiration to, so give me a call or drop me a line.
