A couple of weeks back, I got a phone call as I was out and about. It seems that an interior design firm had scheduled another muralist to do some work for them in a local model home and had to back out of the contract. Was I available to step in and do the work?
After some discussion of when, where and what, and an e-mail or two back and forth, I found that I was able to step in and do the work on fairly short notice. Two rooms were involved, but the amount of prep work and painting involved was pretty minimal and very simple- I could knock off the model murals projects in one day.
The nursery the designer had planned is adorable- pale blue walls, beige and cream striped ceiling and draperies to match, stuffed animal ‘cage’ shelf up high on the full wall over the crib and lots of colorful wall decor around the room. The bedding she chose had lovely shades of beiges, blues, yellows and oranges, with cartoony animals on the comforter and sheets.
Cute, eh? My share of the work was to be painted on the wall above the crib, spelling out a name, in a child-like font, using colors from the bedding.
Project two was a young boy’s room with a Fire Station theme. Fun bedding, colorful accessories and a wallpaper mural behind the bed set the tone for the room.
My project was really simple- to paint a red ladder on the wall from floor to ceiling near the doorway. Lots of painter’s tape, a measuring tape and a level were required, but not a ton of creativity. I added a bit of shading to the rungs of the ladder, but all in all it was fairly easy.
Don’t you just love the life sized Dalmation in the corner?
Two fun and quick projects to fill out my week. Looking forward to more from this group.
Piece of cake!!! Just a little something to fill in the week!!
True- these were pretty simple projects- great filler.
