Late last winter the manager of The Art House gift shop admired a knitted scarf I was wearing and asked if I would be willing to knit a few for their gift shop in the fall. It seemed like a fun thing to do- I like to keep my hands busy while watching TV, or just visiting. So I gathered up several really pretty yarn combinations to work with and spent much of the summer knitting scarves.
I even took my knitting with me to paint murals in Grand Rapids- both of my clients there were knitters, I was in good company. All in all I knitted 5 scarves for the gift shop:
As the weather gets colder and the gift giving season approaches I hope to see these adorning a few necks around town. All of them are soft and snugly, made with hand-dyed, hand spun or unusual yarns in unique and colorful combinations. You can see them at the Art House in Northville during regular hours.
After completing all of those, I gathered up a few new patterns and challenged myself to learn some new stitches and techniques to move beyond dishrags and simple knitted scarves- I’ve become quite a ‘knit wit’ and have made some fairly complicated things so far!
