I have a brand new neighbor! Becca, who writes one of my favorite blogs- Becca Rowan, has been a friend of mine for quite a few years and I was very excited to learn that she just happened to be moving in just down the street. Even better, she asked me to come down and discuss some powder room ideas.
The condo is lovely, very tastefully decorated, mostly neutral, except for an accent wall in the dining area painted a gorgeous persimmon shade. The previous owners had also used the persimmon shade in the small powder room, and in that small space with the nine foot ceiling, it was overwhelmingly intense. It just had to go!
Becca had already selected a couple of lovely shades she wanted to use in there, and I agreed that together they would be soft and soothing, and with the stenciled detail we found in my samples, the powder room could have a whole new elegant look.
To bring down the apparent ceiling height, I extended the ceiling color down the walls a foot and painted the wall color up to meet it, The stencil detail was added in 3 shades of beige and cream just at the top of the wall color to finish off the look.
What do you think?
I love it more every day 🙂 I happened to find the perfect print for the wall too – a botanical orchid with mossy green leaves. The frame pattern echoes the stencil design.
Thanks, Ellen 🙂
Great, Becca! I’ll bet it’s gorgeous now with accessories, towels and now artwork.
